LA Driving Range Recommendation #1 — Rancho Park Driving Range

If you play golf in Los Angeles, you’ve probably heard of Rancho Park Golf Course. Located in the heart of West LA, it’s easy to get to and offers more than just an 18-hole golf course. With a driving range, putting green, and 9-hole Par-3 course all in one place, it’s a convenient spot to practice different parts of your game.

For the first post in the Fairway Compass LA Driving Range Series, I’m introducing Rancho Park Driving Range.

One of the biggest advantages of Rancho Park is its convenient location, especially if you’re coming from West LA, Century City, or Culver City.

⛳ Practice Facilities

One of the best things about Rancho Park is that the golf course and practice facilities are all in one location.

In addition to the 18-hole Rancho Park Golf Course, there is a 9-hole Par-3 course right next to it. The Par-3 course consists of nine holes ranging from approximately 82 to 148 yards, making it a great option for practicing your short game on an actual course after spending some time at the driving range.

The driving range also has night lighting, which makes it convenient for practicing after work.

👍 Who I Recommend It For

Rancho Park Driving Range is a good choice for golfers looking for an easily accessible public driving range in West LA.

It’s also especially convenient if you want to warm up before a round, practice after playing, or work on your putting during the same visit.

👎 The Downside

For me, the biggest downside is how crowded it can get.

I’ve been there many times and have occasionally had to wait for a hitting bay because the range was full. It doesn’t happen every time, but during popular hours, you may not be able to start practicing right away.

If your schedule is flexible, I recommend visiting outside of peak hours.

🎒 What to Bring

Rancho Park Driving Range uses hitting mats, and tees for practicing with a driver are not provided. If you plan to practice your driver, I recommend bringing your own rubber driving range tee that can be inserted into the mat.

Keeping a rubber tee at your preferred height in your golf bag is useful not only at Rancho Park, but also at other driving ranges that use hitting mats.
