Conveniently located near the 101 and 405 freeways, the driving range is easily accessible from Encino, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, and other areas of the San Fernando Valley.
⛳ Practice Facilities
One of the unique features of this location is that Encino and Balboa, two separate golf courses, share the same practice facilities.
Both are 18-hole public golf courses. Encino Golf Course measures 7,023 yards from the back tees, while Balboa Golf Course measures 6,628 yards.
In addition to the driving range, there are both putting and chipping greens, making it easy to work on everything from full swings to your short game in a single visit.
The driving range is also equipped with lights, making it a convenient option for practicing after work or in the evening.
π Who I Recommend It For
What I like most about this driving range is that it tends to be less crowded and feels spacious and comfortable. The parking lot is also very large, which makes visiting especially convenient.
On most of my visits, I’ve been able to find a hitting bay and start practicing without a long wait. Of course, this can vary depending on the day and time, but I especially recommend this range if you prefer a more relaxed practice environment compared with some of the busier driving ranges in LA.
The range itself is fairly wide and open, so it doesn’t feel cramped. It’s a great option for golfers who want to practice comfortably in a spacious, less crowded environment.
You can also practice your full swing at the driving range and then work on putting and chipping without having to go anywhere else. With two 18-hole golf courses right next to the practice area, it’s also a convenient place to warm up before a round.
π What to Bring
Encino & Balboa Driving Range uses mat hitting bays, so if you plan to practice with your driver, I recommend bringing your own rubber driving range tee.
Keeping a rubber tee at your preferred height in your golf bag can be useful not only here, but also at other mat-style driving ranges around the U.S.
