LA Public Golf Course Recommendation — DeBell Golf Club

LA Public Golf Course Recommendation — DeBell Golf Club Located in the hills of Burbank, DeBell Golf Club is a relatively short public golf course that plays more challenging than its yardage might suggest. What stood out to me the most was the combination of narrow fairways and significant elevation changes . At first glance, the shorter overall distance may make the course seem fairly easy, but the hilly terrain and tight layout make accuracy much more important than distance. At the same time, these features make DeBell quite fun to play. If you enjoy shorter courses that still require strategy and accurate shots , DeBell offers a different experience from the flatter and wider public courses around Los Angeles. 📍 Location & Course Information 📍 Location: 1500 E Walnut Ave, Burbank, CA 91501 — View on Google Maps ⛳ Course: 18 Holes 🏌️ Par: 71 📏 Distance: 5,608 yards (Blue Tee) 🏙️ Location: Burbank / Verdugo Mountains foothills 🏌️ Driving Range: Avai...

LA Public Golf Course Recommendation — Los Amigos Golf Course

If you're looking for a public golf course in LA where you can often find a tee time even at the last minute, Los Amigos Golf Course is a great option.

Located in Downey, Los Amigos Golf Course is an 18-hole public course operated by Los Angeles County. The course is relatively flat and has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. While tee times at many popular LA public courses can be difficult to find, Los Amigos often has availability, making it one of my go-to options when I decide to play golf on short notice.

⛳ Course Overview

One of the nice things about Los Amigos Golf Course is its relatively flat and comfortable layout.

Unlike some LA-area courses with significant elevation changes, Los Amigos is fairly easy to walk. The overall atmosphere is also peaceful and relaxed, making it a good choice when you simply want to enjoy a casual round of golf.

The course isn't overly intimidating, so it can be enjoyable for a wide range of golfers.

🕐 A Great Option for Last-Minute Tee Times

For me, one of the biggest advantages of Los Amigos is how often tee times are still available.

Popular public golf courses around Los Angeles can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Los Amigos, however, often has openings even when other courses are fully booked.

That makes it a particularly useful course to keep in mind if you suddenly decide you want to play golf that day or weren't able to get a tee time somewhere else.

⚠️ One Downside — Pace of Play

One downside I've experienced at Los Amigos is that pace-of-play management can sometimes be inconsistent.

Even though tee times may be relatively easy to find, rounds can occasionally become backed up, and the spacing between groups isn't always managed as well as I would like.

Because of this, I recommend playing here when you have some flexibility in your schedule rather than on a day when you need to finish your round by a specific time.

🏌️ Practice Facilities

Los Amigos also offers several practice facilities that are useful before your round.

There is a driving range, putting green, chipping green, and practice bunker, so you can warm up your full swing and short game before heading to the first tee.

👍 Fairway Compass Recommendation

Los Amigos Golf Course isn't necessarily the flashiest course in the LA area, but it's a peaceful and convenient public course that is especially useful for last-minute golf.

Its biggest advantage is that tee times tend to be easier to find than at many other LA public courses. The relatively flat layout and relaxed atmosphere also make it an enjoyable place for a casual round.

If you're looking for a same-day tee time, Los Amigos is definitely worth checking. Just keep in mind that pace of play can sometimes be slow, so it's a good idea to leave some extra time in your schedule.

🏌️ What to Bring

Southern California sunshine can be strong, and you'll be outdoors for several hours during a round. A sun-protection face cover can be useful, especially on sunny days when you want some extra protection for your face and neck.

Since there is no caddie, having a rangefinder can also be very helpful for checking distances and planning your shots.
