LA Public Golf Course Recommendation — DeBell Golf Club

LA Public Golf Course Recommendation — DeBell Golf Club Located in the hills of Burbank, DeBell Golf Club is a relatively short public golf course that plays more challenging than its yardage might suggest. What stood out to me the most was the combination of narrow fairways and significant elevation changes . At first glance, the shorter overall distance may make the course seem fairly easy, but the hilly terrain and tight layout make accuracy much more important than distance. At the same time, these features make DeBell quite fun to play. If you enjoy shorter courses that still require strategy and accurate shots , DeBell offers a different experience from the flatter and wider public courses around Los Angeles. 📍 Location & Course Information 📍 Location: 1500 E Walnut Ave, Burbank, CA 91501 — View on Google Maps ⛳ Course: 18 Holes 🏌️ Par: 71 📏 Distance: 5,608 yards (Blue Tee) 🏙️ Location: Burbank / Verdugo Mountains foothills 🏌️ Driving Range: Avai...

⛳ Clean and Well-Maintained Course

One of the things I liked most about Recreation Park 18 was the overall course condition.

The course felt clean and well maintained, including the fairways and greens, and I didn't find the course condition to be a concern during my round.

Based on my experience, I would rate the Course Condition ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5).

⛰️ Enough Elevation Changes to Keep It Interesting

Recreation Park 18 isn't a completely flat golf course.

Throughout the round, you'll encounter a good mix of uphill and downhill holes, which gives different parts of the course their own character. The course itself is known for its rolling terrain and elevation changes.

Personally, I thought this made the round more enjoyable.

The elevation changes aren't extreme enough to make the course feel overly difficult, but they add enough variety that you're not simply hitting the same types of shots on flat terrain throughout the round.

🌳 Classic Public Golf Course Atmosphere

Recreation Park 18 is one of Long Beach's long-established golf courses.

Mature trees and naturally rolling terrain give the course a classic Southern California public golf course atmosphere.

It's not a flashy resort-style course, but I enjoyed the clean, relaxed environment and the traditional feel of the layout.

⏱️ Good Pace of Play

The pace of play was also quite good when I played here.

Some popular public golf courses around the LA area can become very slow during busy periods, but I was able to move through my round at Recreation Park 18 without feeling like there were excessive delays.

Pace ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Of course, actual pace can vary depending on the day and tee time.

Recreation Park 18 has a Driving Range and Practice Green, making it convenient to warm up before your round or visit just for practice.

The driving range also has lighting, which makes it useful for golfers looking for a place to practice later in the day.
